Cross-Country Skiing

Cross-Country Skiing in the Frisco area and Summit County

With ample fresh snow each winter and a mountain setting that’s easy on the eyes too, Frisco and the surrounding area is ideal for cross-country skiing. There are miles of cross-country skiing trails throughout Summit County as well.

For those who prefer to explore trails outside of the Frisco Nordic Center, there are some suggested U.S. Forest Service trails listed on our hiking & running page. These trails vary in distance and difficulty level for skiers, but Miner’s Creek Road is a good place to start.

Summit County Recreational Pathway

The Summit County Recreational Pathway offers over 55 miles of multi-use recreational paths that wind around and through Frisco and Summit County, connecting the neighboring communities of Breckenridge, Silverthorne, Dillon, and Keystone Resort. The coolest part? A 7-mile stretch of this “Rec Path” between Frisco and Breckenridge is groomed in the winter, thanks to the partnership between the Towns of Frisco and Breckenridge, and Summit County! You can access this groomed portion of the Rec Path by parking at the Ball Fields at the Frisco Adventure Park. The free-access Rec Path runs uphill, parallel to the road (Recreation Way), then continues along Lake Dillon and CO-Hwy 9. Be mindful of signage for the Frisco Nordic Center, as those trails require a day pass or season pass to use. The groomed Rec Path is open to skiers, snowshoers, hikers, and fatbikers, as well as well-behaved, leashed pets. Please be expect and respect other users.

Cross-country skiing at the Frisco Nordic Center

Just minutes from Main Street, the Frisco Nordic Center is surrounded by breathtaking snow-capped mountain peaks. Here you’ll find miles of groomed trails for both snowshoeing and cross-country skiing through peaceful alpine wooded settings.

The Frisco Nordic Center offers both traditional cross-country and skate ski rentals along with lessons and clinics for beginners and skiers who want to hone their skills.

The Frisco Nordic Center requires day use, punchcard, and season passes to use the trails. So download a trail map, stop by on by to grab your trail pass, pack some some snacks, and enjoy the snow!
