Town of Frisco Announces 2023 Wassail Recipe Winners

The Town of Frisco is proud to announce the wassail business competition winners for the 2023 Frisco Wassail Days. The event ran from November 25 through December 3, and gave residents and visitors the opportunity to sample secret wassail recipes from over 50 participating Frisco businesses and to vote for their favorite wassail. This year Frisco Lodge was voted the crowd favorite wassail with Frisco Emporium coming in second, and Rivers Clothing Company securing third place. The top three winners received a custom trophy created by Frisco’s own GatherHouse Glassblowing Studio.

This year’s top 5 winners:

  • Frisco Lodge
  • Frisco Emporium
  • Rivers Clothing Company
  • The Lost Cajun
  • Hotel Frisco

Frisco Wassail Days spotlights local businesses and celebrates all things  winter and holiday season, The event included  a tree lighting ceremony with fireworks, Santa visits, carolers, and an opportunity to experience the Nordic Center for free. Since Frisco started this festival in 2008, Frisco businesses have perfected their wassail recipes, which locals and visitors sample in order to fill out their “12 Sips of Wassail” card. Completed “12 Sips of Wassail” cards are then redeemed at the Frisco/Copper Visitor Information Center for a free commemorative Wassail Days mug which features an iconic Frisco scene each year. This year 2,050 “12 sips” cards were redeemed for free commemorative Wassail mugs after wassailers made over 24,000 visits to local businesses.

This year’s mug features an original design from Summit County-based artist Erika Donaghy, owner of Erika Donaghy Creative Studio. Most notable for her watercolor paintings and new found love of pottery, Erika pulls her inspiration from nature and the natural landscapes of Summit County.

“Wassail Days is intended to remind us of the value our local businesses bring to the community, especially during the holiday season when meaningful gifts and delicious eats are in abundance in Frisco’s unique local shops and restaurants. We appreciate each and every one of our participating businesses, residents, and visitors for being a part of this event and offer a huge congratulations to our Wassail winners,” stated Zane Myers, Town of Frisco Events Manager.
