Art Lab Sound & Lighting Workshops
The Frisco Arts and Culture Council (FACC) is offering Frisco Art Lab beginner and intermediate sound and lighting workshops for teens and adults over the course of four sessions on October 16, 17, 23 and 24, 2024 at 10 Mile Music Hall located at 710 Main Street in Frisco. These workshops are ideal for anyone seeking an introduction to sound and lighting, and this knowledge could be applied to live music, theater, and beyond.
Sound & Lighting Workshop Specifics
Wednesday, October 16 – Frisco Art Lab Beginner Sound Workshop
During this beginner workshop, you will learn the ins and outs of running a live concert from a professional sound engineer. With a live band on stage at 10 Mile Music Hall, this beginner workshop will teach you the basics of setting up the stage and using a sound console frequency adjustment. By the end of this workshop, you will be mixing a song on your own.

Thursday, October 17 – Frisco Art Lab Intermediate Sound Workshop
During this intermediate workshop, you will take a deeper dive into live sound engineering with a professional sound engineer. This intermediate workshop will focus on tasks involved with being a monitor engineer, by setting up and having a sounding stage monitor and developing a front of house mix. By the end of the workshop, you will possess the tools necessary to build a smooth impactful front of house mix and skills necessary as a monitor engineer. A beginner sound workshop or basic sound knowledge is required.

Wednesday, October 23 – Frisco Art Lab Beginner Lighting Workshop
During this beginner workshop, you will learn the basics of concert lighting from an industry expert, including how to use professional controls to match movement and color with the beats and rhythms of music and create your own signature look in a stage environment at 10 Mile Music Hall.

Thursday, October 24 – Frisco Art Lab Intermediate Lighting Workshop
During this intermediate workshop, you will dive deeper into the concepts of stage lighting including patching, addressing, and programming as you start to form your own style. Additionally, you’ll learn how to manipulate positions, colors, gobos, and more using professional lighting hardware and software provided by 10 Mile Music Hall. A beginner lighting workshop or basic lighting knowledge is required.

How to Register
- Each workshop is $10 per session and is limited to eight participants.
- Participants may take just one workshop or sign up for both the sound and lighting workshops.
- Registration is available online or by calling the Frisco/Copper Visitor Information Center at 970-668-5547, seven days a week from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
