Hike & Learn
Get your history with a side of the great outdoors! One of our newest offerings, the Hike & Learn guided hike takes you 2.5 miles around the Peninsula Recreation Area (PRA for short) with Museum staff to soak up some nature and learn more about Frisco’s history.
Advanced registration is required. Registration closes at 5:00pm the day before. Registration details and waiver information are below.
About the Tour
Learn about animals, plants, the Ute Peoples-Colorado’s longest inhabitants, the beginnings of Frisco, and the more recent history of the PRA- including the stories behind the unique trail names! This tour has just 235 feet of elevation gain on well-cared-for pathways. You can expect multiple stops and plenty of picturesque Rocky Mountain views on this 90-minute hike.
The tour starts at the Peninsula Recreation Area Trailhead (formerly known as the Dickey Day Use Trailhead) Parking Lot in the Peninsula Recreation Area.
Directions
From I-70 take Exit 203, Frisco/Breckenridge, and travel south on HWY 9 through the town of Frisco. Turn left on Recreation Way. Follow the road to the first paved parking lot on the right.
What to Bring
This tour is entirely outdoors. Please wear a hat and dress in weather-appropriate layers. Shoes should be appropriate for hiking and walking. No flip-flops, slides, or soft shoes. Think tennis shoes, hiking boots, or adventure sandals. You will also need to bring water and sunscreen. All participants will follow the pack-in, pack-out rule.
Restrooms are located at the Adventure Park Day Lodge building just down the road from the Dickey Day parking lot. We recommend stopping by the Day Lodge before the tour to fill water bottles and use the restroom.
We are unable to accommodate pets on this tour.
