The Free Kids’ Sandcastle Competition Returns to Frisco Bay Marina

On Saturday, August 5, 2023, the Kids’ Sandcastle Competition returns to the Frisco Bay Marina for kiddos 12 and under. The Sandcastle Competition will start at 10:00 am at the Frisco Bay Marina beach, with prizes awarded starting at noon.

Sandcastle competitors will have from 10:00 am to 11:30 am to build their masterpieces. Children are encouraged to bring their own sandcastle building supplies and anything they would like to use to decorate their sandcastles. Judging will begin at 11:30 am with awards to follow at 12:00 pm.

Once again, this year’s celebrity judges will be avalanche rescue dogs from around Summit County. These avalanche rescue dogs display a love of art and fondness for sand, which makes them uniquely qualified to judge this competition.

There are four (4) age divisions in the competition: 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. Children may participate solo or have a team up to four. Each child will receive a free ice cream, and prizes will be awarded to 1st place overall and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each age category. Any items brought to enhance participants’ sandcastles must be left with the sandcastles for viewing throughout the day. Items may be picked up at 3:00 pm.

Participation is free, but kids must register online at Day of registration will not be available. Participants are encouraged to arrive early so they are able to find parking and be ready to create their masterpieces by 10:00 am. Paid parking is available at the Frisco Bay Marina from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm for $0.75 per half hour; the first 30 minutes of parking are free.
