Frisco Kicks off First Story Walk

The Town of Frisco is hosting a kickoff event for its first Story Walk on June 25, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Frisco Adventure Park by the ballfields (616 Recreation Way) in Frisco. A Story Walk is an outdoor path that features a children’s book posted in segments at a kid-friendly height, designed to get kids both reading, moving, and engaging with the outdoors.

Frisco’s Story Walk is a half-mile hike from the trailhead to Dillon Reservoir on the Beach Trail, and will be installed through September, weather permitting. The book is The Little Mountain Mermaid by Colorado Author, Sunnie Zenger and illustrated by Alison Fairbrother.

“Story walks are becoming more popular across the country for good reason, as they encourage kids get outside and read in a fun, active environment. We chose The Little Mountain Mermaid, which emphasizes the importance of clean water because of how well the story interacts with the surroundings and real current issues facing our region and the Western U.S.,” stated Nora Gilbertson, Special Events Manager.

The event kick-off will offer lemonade, cupcakes, and a chance to meet the author. The Town of Frisco will also give away copies of the book to the first 14 families to complete the hike. For more information, contact Nora Gilbertson, Special Events Manager at Events@TownofFrisco.com
