Colorado BBQ Challenge

BBQ Trophies

The Colorado BBQ Challenge will welcome 60+ BBQ competitors on June 16 and 17, 2017. The competitors are the heart and soul of the Colorado BBQ Challenge.

There are two types of competitors at the Colorado BBQ Challenge in Frisco:

  1. BBQ vendors who are selling and competing in the competition
  2. BBQers who are competing but NOT selling

On Monday, January 2, 2017 at 9:00am, both types of competitors, selling and non-selling, will have a chance to register to participate in the 2017 Colorado BBQ Challenge. The non-selling competitor category is highly coveted and registration fills in minutes for this category. Please click here for more competitor information including category descriptions and fees.

The non-selling competitor category is sold out for the 2017 Colorado BBQ Challenge. To get on the wait list click on the red “Register Here” button below. 

We have a new registration system this year that we are very excited about. To get registered competitors will need to create an account before they can sign up. Once an account is created, it is super simple to get registered. Please get ahead of the game and create an account, also known as a “household,” before January 2nd. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to create a household. Once you have that ready to go and it is after January 2nd at 9:00am, click the red button below. This will take you to an online registration page. Click on the BBQ Challenge graphic button to register.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SELLING COMPETITORS- For 10+ years, the BBQ Challenge has been a non-cash event. BBQ tickets are called Hogbacks. Hogback sales have been a significant fund-raiser for local non-profits and a way for the competition’s cooking teams to recoup some of their costs. From each $1.00 ticket sold, the Colorado BBQ Challenge receives $0.15 and teams receive $0.85. Another important piece of information for selling competitors: the people have spoken and they want more meat on the street! You may not sign up as a selling competitor and sell only sauce.

The Health Department is looking at the new fee structure for this year and we expect the new application to be on their website by February 1st.

Participants will be able to apply online only. There will be no email or phone application submissions available. The link for online applications will go live on Monday, January 2, 2017 at 9:00am.
