The Frisco Historic Park and Museum is excited to continue offering its popular summer pop-up events for families and visitors of all ages. These interactive programs provide unique opportunities to explore local history, science, art, and nature through fun, educational experiences designed to entertain and inspire. Come visit Ellroy the pack burro during the Picnic with a Burro pop-up event on Sunday, July 19 and then close out the summer with two Watercolor in the Park events on Sunday, July 26 and August 2, 2026.

Pop-Up in the Park: Picnic with a Burro

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 12:00pm to 3:00pm come to the Frisco Historic Park to meet Donkey the Donkey and Ellroy, an award-winning pack burro from Climax Revival. In addition to meeting the burro and donkey duo, you’ll learn about the essential work these animals performed during the region’s historic mining era, along with the history of Colorado’s state sport, pack burro racing. Please bring your own lunch or snacks and enjoy a picnic alongside Ellroy and his handler David. Mud Season will also be performing live music from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

Pop-Up in the Park: Watercolor in the Park

The Frisco Historic Park will host two introductory watercolor sessions this summer, featuring a kids’ workshop on July 26, 2026, and an adults’ workshop on August 2, 2026. Both sessions will run from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Participants will paint simple stills inspired by Frisco’s breathtaking landscapes, flowers, and natural beauty. With its translucent vibrancy, watercolors are a unique form of artistry that translates color into art at every level. From beginner to Monet, every skill set is welcome. Supplies will be provided, although it is recommended to bring your own paints if you have them.

The Frisco Historic Park & Museum provides the opportunity to experience history in an up-close and personal way right on Frisco’s Main Street. The Museum’s collection of original historic buildings, including the Schoolhouse Museum, contains artifacts, exhibits, and photographs that tell the lively stories of Frisco’s past and reflect the philosophy of embracing history while also connecting it to our lives today.

The Historic Park is open from 10:00am – 5:00pm Tuesday – Sunday and is closed on Mondays.
