The Meadow Creek Pond, located in the park behind Walmart in Frisco, is now open for free public ice skating from 8:00am until 10:00pm each day. The Frisco Public Works Department will regularly be clearing the ice of snow and maintaining this ice surface. Natural ice conditions should be expected on the pond, even with ongoing maintenance, and users should expect delayed snow removal during snow events, as the Town prioritizes removing snow from roadways and sidewalks.
Ice Skating Information
- The skating area is lit from 4:00pm to 10:00pm.
- ‘No fishing’ signs are posted around the pond, as auger holes and the related conditions caused by ice fishing create an unsafe and un-fun ice-skating surface. Ice fishermen/women should ice fish elsewhere.
- The Frisco Public Works staff measured ice depths from four to eight inches within the ice skating area Skaters are always advised that they are skating at their own risk.
- Ropes with “caution: thin ice” signage are installed at the north and south ends of the skating area to keep skaters away from the pond’s inflow and outflow areas; please heed these safety precautions.
- While the gazebo at Meadow Creek Park may be reserved, the ice skating area may not be reserved and remains open for public use, as long as conditions will allow into the season.
- Guests must bring their own ice skates, as there are no skate rentals available onsite.
