Frisco Offers Summer Racing Events For The Whole Family

The Town of Frisco is pleased to offer a full summer lineup of running events, ranging from untimed fun runs to competitive multi-sport endeavors. The Trail Running Film Festival will kick-off racing season on April 27. Race events begin in June and go through September and mix it up between road, paved recreation path, and trail.

Trail Running Film Festival

Come and celebrate running as a universal practice. Experience stories from around the world, contributed by filmmakers who are passionate about adventure, inclusivity, wild spaces, art, and diversity on the trails.

Anyone attending the Trail Running Film Festival will receive a 20% discount on race registration for the Frisco Run the Rockies Trail 10k & Half Marathon on Saturday, August 12, 2023 and the Frisco Run the Rockies Road 10k & Half Marathon on Saturday, September 16, 2023 if they register for either or both races during the Film Festival. This 20% race registration discount will only be available onsite during the April 27 film event.

Mountain Goat Kids Races

For the seventh year, the Town of Frisco is hosting a series of four kids’ trail running races at the Frisco Adventure Park. Kids may choose from three distances (.5 – 1 mile, 1.5 – 2 miles, and 5k), and parents are welcome to accompany their kids during the run. Light snacks will be offered at the Frisco Adventure Park Day Lodge afterwards to celebrate.

All races take place at the Frisco Adventure Park

REGISTRATION

Online race registration is live, and registration includes a finisher medal/bracelet, finisher gift, and slice of pizza. All children who are registered for the entire series will receive a Mountain Goat Kids series gift.

Child Pre-Registration (closes at 2:00 pm on the day of the race) – $15 per race or $45 for the entire series
Child Day-of Registration (5:00 pm – 5:30 pm at the Frisco Nordic Center) – $20 per race

This is a fun-run, so the race will not be timed, and all children will receive a finisher medal and finisher gift as they cross the finish line. All kids must register to race. Parents run for free but must fill out a waiver at registration.

Frisco Triathlon

The sold-out 9th Annual Frisco Triathlon on Friday, July 14, 2023, features stand-up-paddle boarding, mountain biking, and trail running. This twist on a triathlon is open to all ability levels and encourages athletes to take on a new multi-sport event.

Run the Rockies Trail 10K and Half Marathon

The Run the Rockies Trail 10k and Half Marathon will lead runners through the Frisco Peninsula trails with breathtaking views of Dillon Reservoir and the Ten Mile Range. This is a great course for a first-time half-marathoner or runner looking for a fun course that offers single track and dirt road trails. Racers will start and finish at the Frisco Nordic Center.

Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Frisco Nordic Center

Wave 1 of the half marathon will start at 8:00 am. Waves will be released every three minutes.

All racers will receive a commemorative finisher item. Awards will go out to top three overall male and female finishers, as well as male and female age group winners.

Races will be chip-timed, and Maverick Sports will provide professional timing services. Anyone who would like to walk the race is highly encouraged to register for the 10k to be sure to make the cutoff time of 11:30 am.

Run the Rockies Road 10k and Half Marathon

The Run the Rockies Road 10k and Half Marathon will feature the traditional, fast road course, which showcases the beautiful fall foliage along the Ten Mile Canyon. Runners will start near Copper Mountain and will follow the paved recreation path to finish on Main Street in Frisco. The 10k course is 100% downhill and the half marathon course is 75% downhill. A shuttle service will be available to drive racers from Main Street back to their cars at Copper Mountain after the race.
