On Sunday, August 9, 2026, the free Kids’ Sandcastle Competition returns to the Frisco Bay Marina for creative kids 12 and under and for artsy families in the new Family Team division. The fun kicks off at 10:00am on Frisco Bay Marina’s sandy beach, with awards at noon.

When and Where

Sandcastle competitors will have from 10:00am to 11:30am to build their masterpieces. Participants are encouraged to bring their own sandcastle building supplies and anything they would like to use to decorate their sand art. Judging will begin at 11:30am, followed by an awards celebration at 12:00pm.

Categories

New this year, families can compete together in the Family Team division, which is open to families of any size and requires that at least one child age 12 or younger actively participate; space is limited to 10 family team plots.

Prize winning categories will be by age: 1–3, 4–6, 7–9, 10–12, as well as the Family Team division. Teams with multiple children will be placed in the age division of the oldest child in their group.

Awards

Each child will receive a popsicle, and prizes will be awarded to 1^st place overall and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each category. Please note that all materials brought to enhance sandcastles must be removed once the awards have concluded and the event has ended.

Registration and Parking

Participation is free, but kids must be registered. Day-of registration will only be offered if space is still available. Families are encouraged to arrive early to register, find parking and be ready to create their masterpieces by 10:00am.

Paid parking is available at the Frisco Bay Marina from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm for $1.25 per half hour for the first three hours, $2.50 a half hour thereafter; the first 30 minutes of parking are free once you register your vehicle. Participants are encouraged to walk, bike, or take the bus to Main Street Frisco, which is an easy walk to the Marina.
