The Frisco Adventure Park is excited to announce a new intermediate downhill trail at the Peninsula Recreation Area (PRA). A ribbon cutting will be held at the start of the new Wildhack Trail on Saturday, August 30 at 10:00 am. The community is invited to bike this new section of trail by parking at the PRA trailhead and then riding the Excelsior Trail to the intersection with Buzz Saw Trail.
About Wildhack Trail
The Town of Frisco Trails Crew, in partnership with contractor McGill Trail Fabrication, recently completed the new Wildhack Trail at the PRA. The half-mile trail segment includes a wooden bridge crossing over Eureka Patch Trail and is open to downhill bikers only.
“We’re really excited to introduce a new downhill trail that will be appropriate for intermediate riders,” stated Frisco Nordic and Trails Maintenance Lead, Mike Melkonian.
The PRA encompasses both Town-owned property and National Forest Service (NFS) land, where the Town operates recreational activities under a special use permit. The Town of Frisco works closely with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) on trail maintenance, rehabilitation, restoration, and the development of new trails, like Wildhack.
Summer at the Frisco Adventure Park
The Frisco Adventure Park, located in the Frisco Peninsula Recreation Area, is the basecamp for miles of biking and hiking trails that wind in and out of the White River National Forest along the shores of the Dillon Reservoir. The Adventure Park offers year-round activities and amenities, and notably in the summer, this includes a free bike park with a pump track, slopestyle course, dirt jumps, and dual slalom course, as well as a 28,000 square foot, free skate park, the free 27 hole Peak One Disc Golf Course, chuck wagon rides, and a paved recreation path that connects to over 55 miles of multiuse recreational pathways throughout Summit County. The Frisco Peninsula Recreation Area also has two US Forest Service owned campgrounds with a combined 136 campsites, as well as easy access to Dillon Reservoir. In addition to these amenities, the Adventure Park hosts summer youth adventure camps, outdoor programs, and community events that celebrate Frisco’s mountain lifestyle.
