Frisco, Colo., January 5, 2022 – The Town of Frisco is presenting a full lineup of social and competitive events at the Frisco Nordic Center again this season. Starting in early January, the Up & At ‘Em Series offers an opportunity to race into shape in a low-pressure, self-timed format before jumping into mass start events to finish the series, the Gold Rush Nordic races, and the Frisco Freeze Fat Bike Race. The Frisco Nordic Center is also hosting several other laid-back events for those who want to be active outside and gather with friends, but without the competitive aspect.
Registration is open for all events, and full event details may be found at FriscoNordic.com.
2022 Up & At ‘Em Series
This season, the Up & At ‘Em race series will offer five different 6.5K -10K distance races throughout the winter, where participants can race in classic and skate disciplines. The first three races will be held in a virtual, self-timed format, with the last two races held in-person. Participants can sign up for individual races or for the whole series and must have a Strava account (it’s free) and join the ‘Up & At ‘Em’ group to participate in the virtual races.
The Strava/solo format has received significant positive feedback from the past two seasons and allowed for more participation than ever. In this format, racers must record their runs via watch, GPS device, or cell phone and upload those results to Strava. Racers must email their Strava file to Race Director Linsey Joyce, LinseyJ@TownofFrisco.com , who will organize results by age group for both skate and classic categories.
The course will be marked from Wednesday at 7:00 am through Sunday at 5:00 pm on race weeks and racers must complete the course within that time frame and during daylight hours (to avoid grooming and maintenance operations) for their results to count. The last two races in February and March will be held in person with professional timing and post-race breakfast treats provided.
