The Town of Frisco hosts Breckenridge Distillery Whiskey Tour and Chef Demo with Jenna Johansen during Coloraodo BBQ Challenge June 14-16, 2012
Frisco is gearing up for summer fun during the 19th Annual Colorado Barbecue Challenge June 14-16, 2012. This Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event will bring barbecue fare, not to mention many family fun events. Culinary, whiskey and music lovers will be in for a special treat all weekend.
“We’re excited to host our chef Jenna Johansen this year and welcome Breckenridge Distillery Whiskey for their first Rub It, Smoke It, Sip It Tour,” said Suzanne Lifgren, marketing and communications director for Town of Frisco. “This year we’re also hosting more bands, so there will be excitement all day during the event.”
This year the Colorado Barbecue Challenge will host seven bands on Main Street from all genres. Music fans of world-class rock, coutry rock, blues, jazz and zydeco beats will all be pleased with the sounds from the main stage on Madison and Main Street in Frisco. Bands playing at the challenge this year include The Motet, 101st Army Band and Sons of Bill, Fishbone, Clay McClinton, Buckner Funken Jazz and CJ Chenier & the Red Hot Louisianas. Admission to the event is free, and attendees can purchase hog-backs, Frisco’s BBQ currency, to pay for food and drinks and use them at participating retail stores and restaurants along Main Street.
In addition to all the live music Frisco will host an exclusive chef demo with Jenna Johansen at the Viking kitchen gazebo for a select group of guests. Johansen is a contestant on Bravo TV’s new hit show “Around the World in 80 Plates” and is the former executive chef of Dish.
What pairs perfectly with barbecue – whiskey! The Breckenridge Whiskey Rub It, Smoke It, Sip It BBQ Tour will show participants how to prepare various meats while sipping on their signature whiskey.
