Frisco Block Party

The Frisco Block Party offers locals and visitors the best up and coming bands for free.
Band of Heathens, The Congress, and The Brian Hornbuckle Band to perform
during free music festival on Aug. 20, 2011
The Town of Frisco is hosting their first Block Party August 20, 2011. In the long standing tradition of great music for an even better price (FREE) the Frisco Block Party keeps in the Music on Main tradition with 6 hours of live free music. The Town of Frisco is known for showcasing the bands you want to see including Little Feat and Dickie Betts, and the bands you wish you saw before they became too big like Tab Benoit and Marcia Ball and this year is no exception.

The Band of Heathens known for there classic american sound remincient of The Band, Tom Petty, and the Grateful Dead, has earned the reputation as a must see. Band of Heathens is a band quickly gaining traction with strong vocals and big juicy harmonies. Featured alongside Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam and Elvis Costello on the PBS special commemorating Austin City Limits, The Band of Heathens have earned an Americana Music Award nomination for Emerging Artist and the attention of national publications like the Wall Street Journal. The Band of Heathens fan base has surged due to the talented five piece groups multi-instrumental prowess and exceptional song-writing abilities. The Band of Heathens’ hybrid sound–a gritty Americana vibe crossed with a blue-eyed Soul–is at times akin to a modern day mash-up of The Avett Brothers and The Band. There timeless sound has been showcased nationally and revered by all music lovers. “Frisco has missed out on booking bands before they got too big a few times in the past. We passed on the Fray in 2007 and just a few months later they were commanding a $55.00 ticket at the Pepsi Center. I wasn’t going to let that happen again, and that is why we are so lucky to have the Band of Heathens’s for the Frisco Block Party. Mark my words they will be huge!” stated Suzanne Lifgren, Marketing Director for the Town of Frisco. “One listen and you will be hooked, just visit our website and take a listen” Ms. Lifgren added.

The live music begins at 1 p.m. with The Brian Hornbuckle Band. Brian Hornbuckle has played with ZZ Top and the Doobies and brings a cool funky jazz vibe to the afternoon. Then at 3:45 pm The Congress will take the main stage and bring to life their ” vintage R&B textures, Appalachian harmonies and free-form psychedelic solos – Vail Daily.” The Congress is the perfect opener for Band of Heathens bringing to fruition a night of emerging music that will quickly become Rock classics. This line up is so good you will want to pay, but you won’t have to because its free.
The evening is non-stop free music on Frisco’s historic Main Street, starting at 1 p.m.:
• 1:00 p.m. – The Brian Hornbuckle Band (Frisco Historic Park )
• 3:45 p.m. –The Congress (1st Avenue Main Stage )

Unfortunately we will not be hosting a Block Party in 2012. We will offer 9 concerts for our Thursday night concert in the park series starting June 21, 2012
