Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability (ES2)
Protect Frisco’s environmental resources through use of sustainable practices.
~ ES2 vision statement, taken from the Frisco Master Plan
The Town of Frisco is inseparable from the majestic natural environment that surrounds it. Views of mountain peaks, including Mount Royal, Peak One, Chief, Witchita and Buffalo, define the town’s character. U.S. Forest Service and Denver Water Board properties surround the Town. Ten Mile Creek and Meadow Creek flow through town and are surrounded by environmentally sensitive areas such as wetlands, floodplains, steep slopes and sensitive wildlife areas. All these resources provide important habitat for elk, moose, mule deer, beaver, bear, coyotes, fox and other wildlife. And they comprise the landscape that shapes our quality of life in Frisco.
Yet non-native plants are choking out native species. Bark beetles are decimating thousands of acres of pine forests. Air, noise, light and water pollution also affect our quality of life here. Global warming is reducing our snowpack and shortening our winters. These issues are now at the forefront of the community. To address these challenges, Frisco is taking a proactive approach to environmental sustainability and stewardship through the ES2 Program.
Frisco encourages residents, businesses and visitors to find ways in our own lives to be stewards of the earth.
