BBQ Challenge

History

The first official state BBQ challenge was held in Frisco, Colorado in 1993, with only 12 teams – split almost 50-50 between Frisco-area professional and amateur chefs. Since that day, the Town of Frisco has pledged to continue the event as a fundraiser for non-profit. The event has raised more than $500,000 in the last 15 years and provides many local non- profits with a consistent avenue of fundraising.

In 2008, the Frisco Colorado Barbecue Challenge, the Colorado state championship event, saw a 10% increase in visitor attendance from 2007 for an estimate of 22, 000 people. The event raised over $50,000 dollars for our non- profit partners and allowed 10 other non- profits to raise awareness and funds. We contribute the great success of the 15th annual Frisco, Colorado Barbecue Challenge to our increased marketing campaign with over 10 million media impressions in regional television, newspaper and radio. Additional the Frisco, Colorado Barbecue Challenge is advertised in a variety of national BBQ publication and summer guides.
