FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How do I stay updated on what’s new this year for the BBQ?
A: “Like” us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/ColoradoBBQChallenge
Q: Is the Colorado BBQ Challenge sanctioned?
A: Yes, the Colorado BBQ Challenge is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS). KCBS works with Frisco from the start to make sure that we comply with the standards that are set by the KCBS for BBQ Contests.
Q: How do I compete at the Colorado BBQ Challenge?
A: Spaces run out almost the same day we distribute the competitor application – so hurry! We accept around 60 competitors for our event. Most competitors sell to the public but we leave a certain amount of spaces for non-sellers.
Q: How much does it cost to attend the Colorado BBQ Challenge?
A: The event is free to attend. The reason people purchase ‘Hogback’ tickets is to purchase food, beverages, souvenirs and children activities at the event.
Q: OK, I want to eat, drink and do fun stuff at this event! How do I purchase tickets?
A: Tickets are on sale during the event at ticket booths located throughout the event. To beat the lines, pre-purchase your tickets online and pick them up at Will Call at the Information Center after June 11, 2013. Buy tickets here and print your confirmation.
Q: Where do I park for the event?
A: Parking is located on the surrounding streets, please be careful not to block a private driveway. Parking is not allowed on Town right-of-way between 2:00am and 6:00am in the Town of Frisco.
Q: How early do I need to sign up?
A: BBQ Applications become available on our website, www.friscobbq.com; we recommend that you turn your application in as soon as possible as it will determine your space on the street.
Q: How do I become a judge?
A: Fill out the Judging Application form.
Q: Are pets allowed at the event?
A: No, pets are not allowed due to food safety concerns for your pet and others. Your pet would probably enjoy staying at home much more than getting their feet stepped on, eating chicken bones someone may have dropped on the ground, or sitting in a hot car waiting for you. Maybe take them a doggie bag of goodies from the event instead!
