FEBRUARY 6, 2011 – Frisco Nordic Center

9:00 a.m.  5K/10K Classic

9:45 a.m.  5K/10K Skate

10:30 a.m.  20K Skate

11:30 a.m.  7K TUBBS Snowshoe

Limited Parking at the Frisco Nordic Center.  Shuttles will be available from Summit County Commons building (3/10 mile west of the Nordic Center entrance). Plan to arrive early as shuttles begin at 8 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. TIMING WILL CEASE FOR ALL EVENTS 90 MINUTES FROM THE START OF 7K SNOWSHOE RACE

Historic Lecture Gold Rushes of the 19th Century – Connecting the Golden Dots

3:00pm in the Log Chapel – Frisco Historic Park and Museum – Lecture Presented by Rick Hague

In celebration of Frisco’s Gold Rush weekend, join us for a lecture on the story of America’s early gold rushes.  The California and Pikes Peak gold rushes didn’t just happen in isolation but had important technological and cultural influences and advancements which connected them all.

Museum Movie Night: The Gold Rush

6:00pm in the Log Chapel – Frisco Historic Park and Museum

Join us for a fun presentation of the original classic 1925 Charlie Chaplin movie The Gold Rush.  The building will open at 5:30 with seating available on a first come basis.  The building is heated and we will serve hot cider and popcorn.

Ski History: 150 Years of Fun in the Fluff

3:00pm in the Log Chapel, Frisco Historic Park and Museum - Lecture Presented by Mary Ellen Gilliland

In celebration of Frisco’s Gold Rush weekend, join local historian Mary Ellen Gilliland for a look backward to Colorado’s first recorded skiing in Summit County in 1860 and the long glide from funky 1880s ski outings and 1920s ski jump championships to today’s downhill and skinny ski races.

All Programs are FREE and Subject to Change!

February 5, 6-9 pm

“Spontaneous Combustion”-  This is a community bonfire at the Frisco Bay Marina. Beverages will be sold to benefit the Summit Nordic Ski Team.

Fire is lit at Dusk (around 6 p.m.) with Fireworks at 7:30 p.m.
