Frisco to host Countywide Clean Up on Main Street


The Town of Frisco, in support of the Countywide effort asks the community to come volunteer for the annual Clean Up Day, May 19, 2012.   This year the event will take place on Main Street between first and second avenue.  The new central location will offer volunteers easy access to all the cleaning sites and a central location for the appreciation party.  Come celebrate the warm spring and remove the remanants of winter from our Frisco streets.

Clean Up Day May 19, 2012

Frisco’s Clean Up Day will provide household CFL bulbs and old batteries collection for environmentally friendly recycling and disposal.  In addition, we ask bikers to contribute to a unique piece of art by bringing your old bicycle parts for the USA Pro Cycling Challenge “BikefulTower.”

Frisco’s Colorado Barbecue Challenge Gets Sweeter with Father’s Day Facebook Contest

 The Town of Frisco offers a contest to win lodging and tickets to the Colorado Barbecue Challenge

This year, Frisco is taking competition to a whole new level at the 19th Annual Colorado Barbecue Challenge June 14-16, 2012. The Town of Frisco is currently holding a contest on Facebook, where offspring, young or old, may submit a short essay detailing why their father is worthy of a barbecue-filled weekend in Frisco to win lodging and more.

 

Interested contestants should Like the Town of Frisco’s Facebook page, click on the “BBQ” page and submit a short essay on why their father is the best dad on the planet. The winner will receive lodging for June 15 – 16, 2012 in a two-bedroom condo courtesy of Mountain Managers, $100 worth of Hog Back (official currency of the Colorado Barbecue Challenge) and two tickets to the Friday night Breckenridge Rub It, Smoke It, Sip ItWhiskey Tour. All essay submissions must be submitted by May 25, 2012.

 

“This year, we decided to give children the chance to give their Dads the best Father’s Day weekend,” said Suzanne Lifgren, marketing director for Town of Frisco. “It is a great way to engage our social media audience and continue to spead the word about the event.”

The 2012 Colorado Barbecue Challenge will offer plenty of outdoor fun with the first Bacon Burner, a 5K run on Saturday, June 16th at 9:30 a.m. Registrants will receive a signature Barbecue Challenge t-shirt and beer coupons to use during the event. There are plenty of activities for all ages, and with free admission, it’s the perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy barbecue. Attendees can purchase hog-back bucks, Frisco’s barbecue currency, to pay for food and drinks and use them at participating retail stores and restaurants along Main Street.

Frisco’s 19th Annual Colorado Barbecue Challenge Brings Kansas City Flavor to the Rockies

 

The Town of Frisco hosts 60 teams at the national barbeque contest June 14-16, 2012

 

FRISCO, Colo.,April 26, 2012– Town of Frisco takes barbecue to a whole new level with the 19th Annual Colorado Barbecue Challenge June 14-16, 2012. This Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned event attracts more than 60 teams from across the country to compete for top honors as the best barbecuer in the Rockies. Attendees will enjoy many activities, including pig races, a 5K Bacon Burner run, live music, an exclusive chef demo and a private Breckenridge Distillery whiskey tour with the winning barbecue teams.

 

“The Colorado Barbeque Challenge offers many outdoor activities for the entire family,” said Suzanne Lifgren, marketing director for Town of Frisco. “It’s the perfect way to celebrate Father’s Day weekend in the mountains, especially with a ticket to the Breckenridge Distillery whiskey tour.”

For inspiring barbecuers and whiskey lovers, the Breckenridge Distillery Whiskey Tour will provide guests the opportunity to sip on Breckenridge Whiskey and learn how to prepare various meats. The Babrecue Challlenge is open to the public with free live music including a kick off concert on June 14, at 7:00 pm with the Motet.  The live music continues at the BBQ challenge on Friday and Saturday including: Fishbone, Sons of Bill, CJ Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band.  In addition to live music the BBQ has free chef demos, and live pig races. 

 

Proceeds from the Colorado BBQ Challenge will benefit more than eight non-profits, including Advocates for Assault, Summit County Restaurant Association, High Country Conservation, Summit Independent Business Alliance, Mountain Mentors, Women of the Summit, and ProStart, a statewide program providing scholarships toSummit High School students that aspire to have a career in the hospitality industry.

Frisco to host Countywide Clean Up on Main Street

Frisco volunteers are asked to meet at 9 am in the Frisco Historic Park between first and second avenue to pick up their cleaning assignments, raffle tickets, gloves and orange bags. Volunteers are then invited back to the Historic park for an appreciation picinic and lunch hosted by the Frisco Town Council. The Clean Up picnic will start at 12 (noon) with lunch and a contest for “Grossest” or “Most Valuable” items picked up during Clean Up. The picinic fun continues with a raffle of donated items from our local merchants where everything from restaurant gift certificates to Rockies tickets are up for grabs. Finally, connect with your community and start dancing as the Modnicks take the stage for an afternoon that’s built for you.

Frisco offers a different kind of Mud Season.- “Why go to Moab”

Frisco says “Why go to Moab?” The warm spring conditions have allowed the hard working staff at the Town of Frisco to concentrate on the Peninsula Recreation Area and offer Summit County a plethora of mud season recreation. The dirt has surfaced making spring the perfect time to visit Frisco. For the first time in years, you can make a basket, ride the rails and get some vertical on two wheels right here in Frisco. The Disc Golf, Skate Park, and Bike Park will open free to the Public this Friday, April 13, 2012.

The Frisco Adventure Park set to close April 1, 2012 at 8 pm

The Frisco Adventure Park is going out like a “lion not a lamb” with a final weekend of deep discounts and family fun. Tubing at the park will officially close for the 2011/2012 season on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 8 pm.
