January

Sunday, January 27th – Frisco Gold Rush

Frisco’s 43rd annual Gold Rush Weekend connects the mining history of the past with the Nordic traditions of the present.   Frisco, Colorado’s Main Street of the Rockies was once the center of Colorado’s mining-boom and the convergence of two major railroads and stagecoach routes. At more than 9,000 feet, Frisco still values its rich mining history while being surrounded by some of the best ski resorts Colorado has to offer.  Click here for race details.

Saturday & Sunday, June 8th & 9th – Run the Rockies Weekend

 The Town of Frisco will host the 37th annual ‘Run the Rockies’ weekend.   Run the Rockies will offer both road and trail run options to participants.  Run the Rockies will provide racers with challenging race courses and breathtaking scenery.  Race options include a 10k or half marathon road race and a 5k or 10k trail run.  Click here for race details.

Saturday, June 15th – Bacon Burner 5k

 The Bacon Burner 5k is a 3.8 mile out-and-back run that will take place on a paved recreation trail.  The first 300 racers to register will receive a commemorative piece of Bacon Burner apparel.  Registration will open on February 1st, 2013.  All registrants 21 and older will also receive a free beer ticket to redeem at the BBQ Challenge.  Click here for event details.  Strollers are welcome; please leave your pet at home.

Saturday, August 3rd – Commando Extreme Mud Race

COMMANDO EXTREME presents “Objective Lefty Grove” in honor of our 30 fallen brothers KIA in Afghanistan, August 6, 2011. Think you have what it takes to be a Navy SEAL for the day? We think you do and it’s time to put down your purse and prove it to yourself. Come join us for a challenging day of fun and festivities for all. The course is around 3 miles with as many challenges as we can plug in and a few surprises along the way for the select few. Obstacles include but are not limited to: Cargo nets, ropes walls, pits ,tires, logs and lots of mud and water throughout! We will also have a kid’s “O” course for the “little operators”. Don’t be the only one on Monday morning without a giant butt-kicked smile on your face. Don’t hope it happens! Saturday, August 10th – Frisco Duathlon

Lace up your trail running shoes and have your mountain bike ready to roll for the 2nd annual Frisco Duathlon!  Stay focused as you travel along the single track trails that offer exhilarating views of Lake Dillon and the Ten Mile Range!  Registration is open to individuals as well as teams of 2 (1 runner, 1 biker.)   Are you new to the multi-sport race scene?  We’ve added a short course in 2013 for athletes that want to make their Duathlon debut!  Click here for more details and to register.

Saturday, August 17th – Tiaras & Tutus

Tiaras, tutus, glitter and glam;  participate in either a 1 mile fun run or a 5k trail run at the Frisco Peninsula.  This inaugural event is a benefit for the local Summit County chapter of Girls on the Run;  a program that uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.  This fun run will kick off Frisco Family Fun Fest!!  Click here for more details and to register.

September 7th - Mt. Royal Hillclimb

The 2nd Annual Mt. Royal Hillclimb will present runners with a 1,500ft challenge!  Racers will have just less than two miles to ascend from the Town of Frisco, elevation 9,072ft to the 10,500ft summit of Mt. Royal!  This trail race may seem short and sweet to some, but the grueling ascent is anything but sweet!  The first man and women to reach the top of  Mt.Royal will be declared King and Queen of the mountain!   Click here for more details and to register.
