2013 Summer Youth Sports

Frisco Adventure Camp

This program is open to youth ages 6-12 that are looking to increase their knowledge and ability in the bike and skate parks.  Our instructors will guide the participants through all of the park features, beginning with the basics and taking them to the intermediate level by the end of the week.  All participants must bring the following to the program: bike, skateboard, helmet, pads (optional,) water, sunscreen, tennis shoes and a sack lunch.

Dates: Session 1-June 3-7, Session 2-July 8-12 and Session 3-August 5-9; class meets Monday-Friday from 9a.m.-5p.m. daily

Location:  Frisco Adventure Park (621 Recreation Way) Class will meet inside the Day Lodge each morning

Cost:  $205/Frisco residents and $230 for non-residents per session

Frisco Professional Baseball Camp

This skills development camp is open to boys and girls ages 8-16.  The Frisco Professional Baseball Camp was formally known as the Breckenridge Baseball Camp and has operated in Summit County for 25 years.  Daily instruction from the coaches will include: hitting techniques, position fielding, base running, sliding, pitching and throwing, proper warm-up and rules of the game.   Soft baseballs will be used for the beginning level players.  Wiffleball pitching machines and coach pitch live batting practice will be implemented.  Advanced skilled players will use normal baseball equipment with protective head gear. The safety of the camp participants is a primary concern.

Date:  Monday, June 17-Friday, June 21, 2013; 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. daily

Location:  Frisco Peninsula Ball Field; located across the street from the Frisco Day Lodge, 621 Recreation Way

Cost:  $210/child; fee includes daily lunch and camp instruction

Frisco Bike Camp

Open to children ages 6-14, our instructors will introduce all of the Frisco Bike Park features!  Participants will learn body positioning, balance and how to maneuver obstacles.  Participants should feel comfortable riding a bike and be familiar with breaking, cornering and pumping their bike.  All participants must bring the following to the program: bike, helmet, pads (optional,) water, sunscreen, tennis shoes and a sack lunch.

Dates: June session:  Monday, June 17-Friday, June 21; 9a.m.-5p.m. daily.  July session: Monday, July 29-Friday, August 2; 9a.m.-5p.m. daily.

Location:  Frisco Adventure Park (621 Recreation Way) Program will meet inside the Day Lodge

Cost:  $205/Frisco residents and $230 for non-residents per session OR drop-in for $41/Frisco resident and $46 for non-resident per day

Tykes & Bikes

Our instructor will introduce the participants to rollers and berms that fall in a continuous circle allowing them to ‘pump’ their way around the track.  The focus will be on having fun while learning about balance and body positioning while in the pump track.  Participants must be able to ride a bike without training wheels and wear a helmet.  Open to kids ages 4-5.

Dates: June session:  Monday, Wednesday,  Friday, June 17, 19 and 21 from 10a.m.-10:45a.m. daily.  July session: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, July 29, 31 & August 2 from 10a.m.-10:45a.m. daily.

Skateboard Camp

If your child is an intermediate to advanced skateboarder, this program is right up their ally.  Our instructors will work with 6-12 year olds and help them learn kick turns, grabs, ollies and more!  All participants must bring the following to the program: skateboard, helmet, pads (optional,) water, sunscreen, tennis shoes and a sack lunch.

Dates: June session:  Tuesday & Thursday, June 25 and 27 from 9a.m.-5p.m. daily.  July session: Tuesday & Thursday, July 23 and 25 from 9a.m.-5p.m. daily.

Cost:  $81/Frisco residents and $92/non-residents per session

Tykes Skateboarding

This program is open to participants ages 4-5 that are new to the sport of skateboarding.  Our instructors will cover balancing, pushing and stopping on a skateboard.  When the participants are ready, they will learn how to carve and flow as well.  This is a great introductory class that will help participants feel confident with the basic skateboarding moves.  All participants must bring the following to the program: skateboard, helmet, pads (optional,) water and tennis shoes.

Dates: June session:  Tuesday & Thursday, June 25 and 27 from 10a.m.-10:45a.m. daily.  July session: Tuesday & Thursday, July 23 and 25 from 10a.m.-10:45a.m. daily.

Girls on the Run Camp

Girls on the Run is a program that uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.  Through interactive activities, such as running, playing games, and discussing important issues, participants learn how to celebrate being girls. The program focuses on building self-esteem and improving emotional and physical health.  This camp is open to girls entering grades 3-8.  Girls must bring their lunch to camp every day and dress appropriately for running outside.  Please come prepared with layers of clothing as the weather may vary.

Dates: Monday, August 5 – Friday, August 9 from 9a.m.-5p.m daily
