Peninsula Recreation Area

Heading south on Highway 9 toward Breckenridge (1/2 mile south of Frisco on Highway 9), you’ll find the Peninsula Recreation Area. The Peninsula contains:

Webcam
  • a maintained ball field (bases and permanent pitching mound)
  • a multi-purpose field
  • Peak One Disc Golf course
  • a skateboard park
  • an extensive trails system
  • picnic facilities
  • several campgrounds
  • ample parking

In the summer and fall, the Recreation Area hosts mountain bikers and hikers who enjoy trails winding through the forest and along the shores of Lake Dillon. A ball field with a view of surrounding mountains and picnic areas attracts families and groups. In the winter, the Peninsula is home to the Frisco Nordic Center, a playground for cross-country skiers, snowshoers and biathletes.

Reservations for the ball field and multi-purpose field are not required but recommended for guaranteed use. Reservations are taken only after January 1st of the year of the reservation, on a first-come, first-served basis. The Town of Frisco does not make reservations for the camping, picnic areas or the the nordic log building located on the Peninsula. Click here for information on reserving the US Forest Service campgrounds and picnic areas, and search for any of the following campgrounds: Heaton Bay, Peak One, Pine Cove, Prospector or Windy Point.

Visit our Parks & Facilities Information page for more information about reserving sports fields at the Penninsula Recreation Area.
